Workshops and masterclass with guest teacher Gokulacandra in May

Vinyasa Masterclass at 16/F Studio:

Friday May 19th 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Jani’s signature high-vibrational power vinyasa class will leave you feeling strong and empowered in mind, body and spirit.  You will build heat as you flow breath to movement. This class includes sun salutations, core strengthening, balancing, and inversion postures.

Hip Opening workshop

Saturday May 20th 9:30am – 12pm

The stress and activity of everyday life can often cause us to habitually move in certain ways and be in positions that lead to tightness and discomfort of our hips. In this workshop, we will focus on yoga asanas (postures) that will help release the tightness, tension, and pain in this area of our body.

Arm Balance Workshop

Saturday May 20th 3:00pm – 5:30pm

Arm balances build focus and concentration and increase our body awareness and connectivity to the breadth. They work to cleanse the nervous system and exhilarate the body and mind. In this workshop we will play with the techniques that serve to lengthen and strengthen the muscles required to successfully find your balance whilst maintaining lightness in the body.

Inversions workshop workshop

Sunday May 21st 9:30am – 12pm

The inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of the asanas. You will be introduced to practice postures such as headstand, forearm stand, handstand, and more. You will be guided through alignment, technique, proper modifications, and feel how to develop the power in your core strength. Learn to use the wall, or a buddy, as a way to continue practicing inversions beyond this class.

Back-bending workshop

Sunday May 21st 3:00pm – 5:30pm

Back bending isn’t all about the spine. This workshop will teach you what parts of the body need to open and what should soften. You’ll learn key sequencing to prepare the body for heart opening postures and how to modify them to work with your body giving you confidence to explore them in your own practice. We will find more space in your back bends whilst developing safe preparatory back bending skills that you can incorporate into your own practice.

About Gokulacandra (Jani Jaatinen)

Jani Jaatinen has been practicing yoga since 2000 and has become one of the world’s foremost practitioners. He is a humble and highly knowledgeable yoga teacher travelling the globe sharing his wisdom and inspiration. His intimate knowledge of the human body sets the stage for a unique presentation of asana or postures. He is versed not only in ancient spiritual yoga texts but is grounded in his daily practice and meditation. Practitioners from all levels benefit greatly from his classes.
Jani is currently based in Kota Kinabalu, the east Borneo of Malaysia. He started his own home-based yogashala – Gokul Yoga since 2012 when he moved to Malaysia with his wife. He is the father of two little girls and a baby boy. He enjoys making music, drawing, swimming and chanting.
