Deepen your backbends and improve flexibility with the yoga wheel

The Yoga Wheel workshop is a unique prop used for deepening your backbends and gaining flexibility in the shoulders, chest, hip flexors and quads. It does so safely and painlessly by supporting your spine and stabilising your backbends with minimal compression between the spinal vertebrae.

In this series, learn how to incorporate the Yoga Wheel safely and confidently in your practice and explore creative ways to experience familiar postures that typically seemed out of reach.

Wheel Yoga is for all:

  • Learn how to make backbends more accessible!
  • Boost the meridians, and activate lymph circulation with the yoga wheel
  • Patients with urban diseases, shoulder, neck, waist and back pain, headache and insomnia.
  • The curve of the yoga wheel matches the human lumbar spine, helping practitioners to open up the shoulders and thoracic spine and bend safely.
  • Stretch the thymus and peritoneum, and tune the hormones in the body.
  • Unblock the body chakras, especially the heart chakras. People who are often emotionally frustrated, and introverted, are welcome to try this.
  • Suitable for various sports instructors, junior and intermediate yoga practitioners

About Manila

Megala, alias Manila, comes from India with decades years of experience in teaching yoga from 2000. Before becoming a yoga teacher, she was working as a nurse in a hospital, and started practicing yoga in her teens. She completed diploma in naturopathy and yogic science in 2001, the teacher’s training and the advanced teacher’s training courses at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in 2004 and 2006 respectively, and has earned the titles “Yoga Siromani, Teacher of Yoga” and “Yoga Acharya, Master of Yoga”. She also trained ashtanga yoga under guruji Mr. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India in 2006.
